Online help of agree® bank workplace tested

Together with FIDUCIA IT AG, the usability experts of User Interface Design GmbH (UID) tested the user-friendliness of the online helps of the agree® bank workplace. A multi-stage evaluation revealed a great potential for improvement of the software. With the improved online help, the bank employees now work more purposeful and faster and are more motivated.

The background

With the agree® bank workplace, bank employees process all normal banking transactions, from opening an account to investment counselling. With approx. 100,000 users in 660 German banks, the agree® bank workplace is the most common banking system in Germany.

The objectives

The online help of the agree® bank workplace should...

  • quickly and practicably answer the questions of the employee.
  • efficiently and effectively support the task processing of the employee.
  • correspond to the requirements of the employee as regards content and graphical design.

The procedure

Based on a test guideline which was jointly prepared, the usability experts of UID and FIDUCIA IT AG conducted twelve usability tests with representative users. The test respondents processed typical tasks with the agree® bank workplace using the online help. By observing and asking the test respondents, the test moderator found out when the users need what information, where and how they look for this information wo und and what difficulties arose. An expert review of additional online helps completed, prioritized and finally validated the usability test results.

The result

The detailed final report of the UID experts summarized the test findings and gave precise recommendations. Too complex navigation, unclear links or search results were just some of the usability problems to be solved by the Technical Documentation department of FIDUCIA IT AG. Updating the documentation guideline allowed sustainability and consistency.
